This simple, durable ascent device is designed to cause minimal rope damage, yet holds well on wet, muddy, or icy ropes. All cams are now forged, and will not accept quicklinks; must be tied/sewn into harness. Spring-loaded model grips rope automatically (but can be locked out); free-running cam must be loaded to engage. Stainless model has "dimples" in shell to increase rope contact. Each Gibbs is pull-tested to 1,000 lbs. (454Kg), but breaking strength is much higher. 7 oz. (200g)
